His talk will focus on the commercial and compliance benefits of using Zero Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs)—a next-generation cryptographic technique that allows organisations to validate information without exchanging the underlying data. “For businesses that need to collaborate across partners, sectors or borders—especially in highly regulated industries—ZKPs offer a transformative way to unlock data value while ensuring privacy, security and compliance” said Rob Leslie. In his talk, Leslie will highlight a real-world deployment of this technology with Ireland’s national electricity utility. In this use case, customer identity attributes—such as name and address—are verified for financial services purposes without any personal data leaving the utility’s control. This enabled secure cooperation between the utility and financial institutions while maintaining full compliance with GDPR and internal data protection policies. The implications extend well beyond utilities.
